Loggerhead Marinelife Center will host its 11th Annual TurtleFest on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. TurtleFest 2014 will feature a student art contest for the third consecutive year. Palm Beach County students in grades 4 through 12 submitted hundreds of pieces of environmental-themed artwork. A jury awarded a first, second, and third-place for each age submission category, a Best in Show, and honorable mentions. Winners will be revealed at the event and their artwork will be displayed in a special exhibit at TurtleFest 2014
Cole Pollard’s piece was selected as this year’s poster and t-shirt image. Cole is an 8th grade student at Watson B. Duncan Middle School. Cole’s artwork will be featured as the official TurtleFest image for 2014 and will be available for purchase on event t-shirts and commemorative posters.
Over 10,000 guests will join together at TurtleFest 2014 at the free-admission event which focuses on promoting conservation through up close interactions with threatened and endangered sea turtles, as well as music, art, shopping, educational presentations, games, a Global Village, and other activities.
