Media Advisory: District students performing at YES Lab

DELRAY BEACH – Public school students from elementary, middle and high schools in Palm Beach County will perform monologues they wrote themselves during a showcase of original monologues at the Arts Garage in Delray Beach on Monday, Dec. 15. The free show, part of a six-week intensive program by YES (Youth Engaged in Storytelling) Lab, begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

The 24 students performing in Monday’s showcase were selected from nearly 800 students who wrote monologues on first impressions that people have of them, or their first impression of someone else. Students from seven district schools will be represented at the showcase. The schools are: Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, West Palm Beach; Bak Middle School of the Arts, West Palm Beach; Boynton Beach High School, Boynton Beach; Okeeheelee Middle School, Greenacres; Plumosa School of the Arts, Delray Beach; U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts, West Palm Beach; and Watson B. Duncan Middle School, Palm Beach Gardens.

The students performing in the showcase all participated in the YES Lab’s six-week program offered by the Theatre at Arts Garage. YES Lab provides free in-school and onsite workshops at local schools. Learn more about the YES Lab by visiting the Outreach section of artsgarage.org.
